Welcome to week number 12's "Breed of the Week" post.
This week's breed is the Chinese Shar-Pei.
Info on the breed can be found by checking out the American Kennel Club website (just click the title of the post) and the national breed club website below:
http://www.cspca.com/
Every week a new breed will have the spotlight and the post will include a link to an informational site describing the breed, and a local adoptable dog of the featured breed.
If at all possible the dogs will be featured from the Mahoning or Trumbull County pounds.
They are both extrememly high kill shelters and if the dogs are not adopted they will 100% be put to sleep on their respective Euthenasia dates or very soon there after.
Please feel free to pass along any featured dog.
Did you know the name "Shar-Pei" means "sand-skin", but translates more loosely as "rough, sandy coat" or "sandpaper-like coat" and refers to two distinctive qualities of the Shar-Pei coat - roughness and shortness - that make the breed unique in the dog world.
